Criteria for Acceptance of Posters

The purpose of the poster session is to bring practical, scientifically sound information of the highest quality to its symposium participants so that they may apply new ideas immediately to their practices. The Program Committee will review poster abstract submissions according to the following guidelines:

  1. Poster subjects provide best LTC practices and outcomes as well as emerging research data.
  2. Pharmaceutical or other medical products discussed in the poster presentation that are not FDA approved must be accompanied by disclosure. Medications will be referred to by class and/or generic names.
  3. Of particular interest are concepts that have immediate practical application.
  4. Poster subjects shall have strong relevance to the professional practices of FMDA members, especially medical directors, attending physician, and nurse practitioners.
  5. Poster subjects shall be entirely non-commercial. Posters may not promote specific medical substances/products.
  6. FMDA members, all members of the health care team, and medical professionals who are involved in research may submit abstracts for poster presentations. Content may include both research and reports of best practices. The individual who submits the abstract shall be a physician, pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other member of the health care team as described above and shall be fully responsible for the content, arrangement, and presentation of all data in the poster: i.e., staff or other representatives of industry, communications, or education companies may not submit an abstract on behalf of another health care professional.
  7. The material presented in the poster must be up-to-date and presented in a balanced and unbiased manner. Comparisons of efficacy, contraindications, modes of administration, etc., between competitive products shall be fully presented. Editorial conclusion should be avoided.
  8. All poster authors are required to sign the AMDA/FMDA Faculty Disclosure Statement. Disclosures for all authors must be submitted to complete the poster abstract submission.
  9. If financial support has been provided for the research submitted or for the presentation of the research, a line indicating financial support must be included as a footnote. This line must read, "Financial support for the research or other content of this poster was provided in whole (or in part) by supporting company name[s]." Presenters may not accept commercial funding in support of their attendance to the meeting.
  10. Advertising and/or commercial materials may not be distributed; sales or orders shall not be made or solicited, and prices may not be shown or quoted for the purpose of sale by any individual in any way connected with a poster presentation. Costs may be discussed within the context of cost benefit analysis or other economic models.
  11. Company names and/or logos may not appear on the poster itself or on the poster board to which the poster is mounted. This includes names of health care organizations and health care facilities as well as pharmaceutical companies or other industries.
  12. Unsigned abstracts or abstracts with missing documentation will be considered incomplete and will be returned to the sender.

Poster submissions will be reviewed and selected by an impartial review committee. The selection process of the review committee is confidential and its decisions are final. Those who submit poster abstracts agree to accept the decision of the review committee.
